CVM Inc, custom machine builder located right at the 580/680 interchange in Pleasanton, is actively looking for an experienced Controls Engineer or Technician to join our fast paced team. We have been successfully building custom equipment for Bay Area tech, medical, foods, and home products companies for over 30 years. We have a full machine/fab shop and build what we design. Average projects last 1 to 4 months from design to delivery, with 5-10 design projects active at any one time. Our variety of work and pace keeps it interesting.

Description: Design and produce controls systems for custom automated equipment. Primarily using PLC’s to control motion, fluids, and temperature. Conceptualize and detail programming solutions to a variety of machine types across several industries, mostly in motion control. Platforms: We primarily use Allen-Bradley, and Automation Direct PLCs, but often are asked to use others by customer request.  Knowledge in different systems is an asset our diverse client base appreciates so the more you know, the better.

Requirements: 5 years PLC and HMI programming experience on multiple platforms, minimum. Creative mind with knowledge of and experience integrating “off the shelf” electrical and motion control components. Hands-on aptitude with general knowledge of automation design and equipment safety. Electrical knowledge and ability to read and create electrical drawings, schematics and ladder logic. Skill in assembly and troubleshooting of electromechanical equipment, including sensors, motors, and controllers. Willing to work hard at what you enjoy. Requires good communication and collaboration skills — both verbal and written. Customer relations and project management skills are important.

Additional Valuable Experience
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment including PLC’s, power supplies, motor starters, frequency drives, sensors and gauges, and test equipment. Installation and machine maintenance at customer’s site, Electrical Circuit Design, Mechanical Design
